The re-invention of these traditional Victorian rooms to attain the Bold Contemporization of this Victorian Beauty was a collaborative endevour with extreme results the Clients are elated to live within. The opening of spaces created an expansive space to live and entertain. The quality appliances of Wolf, SubZero and Miele have elevated the Cooking experience for our Clients while the open comfort of the seating at the Island and the Dining Table is inviting to all. The Kitchen captures good natural light by day and dramatic light beams from the Sculptural Light Fixtures by night. The tension created between the nod to the traditional and the bold touches of contemporary make for a visually unique Heart of this Home! Photography credits: The talented Nicole Aubrey Photography
To be contacted by a New Client and commence discussions about their Project is an absolutely thrilling aspect of my creative job as a Designer! My radar is honed on the language my New Client uses to explain how the present state of their home fails them and their Family. My love is to translate those frustrations into a Beautiful Solution! A beautiful solution that explores new ways to think about their Space, new material elements to experience within their Space and new function for the development of their New Space. The pretty parts are only half of a well-developed solution. I start the process with Mood & Inspiration Boards combined with tactile samples. These tools connect my Clients to the Design Vision and are a fantastic catalyst in the forward motion of the Project. The dialogue between my Clients & I over the Mood Boards is exhilarating and the wealth of information exchanged allows for an immediate flow forward to create CAD Elevations with every nuance of Design within. Why do Clients hire me to Design and guide them upon this journey? Because Clients realize the importance of how a well designed thoughtful substantial alteration to their living environment […]
McNeil Design Group Interiors ‘Kitchen Modernization’ has completed a gorgeous new Open Concept Kitchen and Dining Room renovation created from an original 1980’s home of small segmented spaces. Collaborating with our wonderful Client to bring this dream renovation to reality was a great pleasure. The new space was modernized with a Transitional focus. Clean, airy, quality finishes, top notch stainless appliances, custom cabinetry in a painted grey and white, greyed hardwood throughout, sculptural pendant lighting and stunning Quartz countertops that mimic specialty stone without the fussy maintenance. The specified specialty downdraft ventilation made for a pristine oversized Island and created an open sight line. Photography courtesy of Nicole Aubrey Photography
McNeil Design Group Interiors ‘Contemporizing a Small Bungalow’ Bringing modern style and attributes to this small 2 bedroom compartmentalized Bungalow was quite a challenge. But through excellent planning, 3D renderings and skilled Trades the task was accomplished. The now open concept Kitchen, dining and lounge are a nice modern update. The full space is an amazing transformation! The addition of floor to ceiling white Shaker styled contemporary cabinetry doubled the storage for this Client. The clean palette of white lightens and brightens the small space, while the linear stone back splash and hits of warm greige modernize and connect to the traditional attributes of this 1950’s bungalow. The original plaster mouldings were saved and enhanced and the spacious solid surface peninsula added an entertaining space the Client had never experienced before. New hardwood flooring flowed through the sitting room, dining room and open concept kitchen unifying the renovation.
