To be contacted by a New Client and commence discussions about their Project is an absolutely thrilling aspect of my creative job as a Designer! My radar is honed on the language my New Client uses to explain how the present state of their home fails them and their Family. My love is to translate those frustrations into a Beautiful Solution! A beautiful solution that explores new ways to think about their Space, new material elements to experience within their Space and new function for the development of their New Space. The pretty parts are only half of a well-developed solution. I start the process with Mood & Inspiration Boards combined with tactile samples. These tools connect my Clients to the Design Vision and are a fantastic catalyst in the forward motion of the Project. The dialogue between my Clients & I over the Mood Boards is exhilarating and the wealth of information exchanged allows for an immediate flow forward to create CAD Elevations with every nuance of Design within. Why do Clients hire me to Design and guide them upon this journey? Because Clients realize the importance of how a well designed thoughtful substantial alteration to their living environment […]
It’s been a long time coming to carve out a moment to start my blog. Gosh, where to start …..so many ideas running through my mind! For today, let me just say that I have had the great pleasure to be “Living in the Creative” for most of my life. I became aware of my taste for all things visually beautiful in my young Teen years and made my most conscious decision to select a Creative Lifestyle half way through high school. I romanticized the thoughts of becoming a Painter and toiled over many canvases. I experimented with a great old manual camera…not all images being successful. I had few Creative Mentors in my early life but inquired where I could, dove into books of Painters and Creatives, experimented visually and artistically to the best of my trials. At a time of pivotal decisions in young life I chose to apply to the fantastic Ontario College of Art and Design. During those moments of looking into the crystal ball of my future I also applied to […]
McNeil Design Group Interiors ‘Kitchen Modernization’ has completed a gorgeous new Open Concept Kitchen and Dining Room renovation created from an original 1980’s home of small segmented spaces. Collaborating with our wonderful Client to bring this dream renovation to reality was a great pleasure. The new space was modernized with a Transitional focus. Clean, airy, quality finishes, top notch stainless appliances, custom cabinetry in a painted grey and white, greyed hardwood throughout, sculptural pendant lighting and stunning Quartz countertops that mimic specialty stone without the fussy maintenance. The specified specialty downdraft ventilation made for a pristine oversized Island and created an open sight line. Photography courtesy of Nicole Aubrey Photography
McNeil Design Group Interiors ‘Adorable Lavender & White Whimsical Nursery’ This adorable age-versatile Nursery was designed and created for a special little Girl who is quickly catching up to her older Sibling. She is adventuresome and innately drawn to pretty classic design. The whimsy of the custom Tree Mural leads perfectly into the imagery in the embroidered drapery panels and iron birds-taking-flight drapery hardware to create a fresh and sophisticated space for a little Girl. The liveliness of the wall colour palette and the blend of versatile fabrics builds upon this pretty design concept and allows for future design inspiration as this little one matures. The custom drapery panels have a ruched header and were created with soft black-out lining for good quality rest during nap time and night sleeping. The lighting of this space was enhanced with a new recessed lighting plan and the addition of a transitional crystal orb and silver organza drum shade chandelier. The light cast on the ceiling and walls from the Chandelier is stunning and adds to the whimsy of this space.
